Special Story about our 2004 Tree's "Guardian Angel" Topper

Angel holding baby topper

Marcia's letter to Michele, who handmakes these toppers

Dear Michele,

Our group, SHARE Atlanta, chose the angel holding the baby tree topper for a tree that we are doing in memory of our babies. Our group supports parents and families who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy or right at birth. We have an angel garden in a nearby cemetery that is framed with memorial bricks honoring many children whose presence was very brief in our actual lives but whose love we will always cherish.

This year, we are entering a tree in the Festival of Trees here in Atlanta that raises money to help local hospitals for the care of children. Our tree's theme this year is the same as our logo "Forever in our hearts," and we are decorating our tree with Victorian angels and hearts, white lights, and any hearts or angel ornaments that support our theme that parents bring to us. The mother and child tree topper from Brookdale will be the crowning treasure.

The tree skirt - in blue and white with silhouettes of our garden angel is the beautiful handmade foundation for our tree. At first upon writing this I was thinking to add a touch of blue in our angel topper, but perhaps, what I really wished you to know is how special this topper will be for so many people...165,000 people will pass this tree and learn more about our group and the gifts that our children have made in our hearts.

We are very pleased to have found such a lovely representation of how we each feel about our child or children.

Michele's response

Hi Marcia,

Let me start by saying, Thank you and what a great honor this is. What a wonderful organization this is. Actually, my guardian angel series began when my sister-in-law was pregnant with twins. The day before she was scheduled to deliver them they both died. So, as I said, this is a very wonderful organization you have. Losing a child like that, or under any circumstance has to be very devastating.

Thank you again, I sincerely appreciate your kind words.
